Hi Guys

I've been running this web site for quite a while now, a couple of years maybe, and I've been toying with the idea of introducing it to you guys to widen it's audience if I can. I would like for you to come and visit, have a look at it and provide me with some feedback about what you think about, in terms of layout, design, content or whatever. Please tell me exactly what you think, I won't be offended by criticism, or at least not by constructive criticism anyway!!!!
The idea behind the site is to host an on-line story that is, obviously, on-going at the moment, it will finish in due time. I'm not the author, my son is and it's all his original fiction. I have just designed and coded the site to give the stories a vehicle to be viewed on. I did ask Uber about how to go about advertising the site and he suggested the Portal as the best place so here goes.....the URL is

http://www.6th-avenue.co.uk

There is a section on site information that explains what the set up is but it's really straightforward, there is no advertising on the site and no registration or anything like that.

Please have a look, read the story...it's pretty mature now, some 40 odd chapters and a few 'side streets' so plenty of plot line has been revealed already and there's a fair bit in reserve and in progress as well so we're well stocked to keep it going for quite a while.

Anyway, please drop by, have a look, read the stuff and generally hang out with the denizens of 6th Avenue and let me know what you think about them. Please do this either by answering this post (preferrably) or by mail the webmaster (that's me anyway....) at [email protected]

Thanks for your interest and I look forward to hearing your comments, good, bad or otherwise.

Regards

Goodog

I'll check it out also. Thanks for sharing!

goodog,

before I get into any really in depth critique, I'd like to tell you my first impression of the site now that I have had time to assess it...

And my first notion is to ask if anyone has done any color scheme research...On a site like that, especially where reading is involved, I'm sure certain colors have psychological aspects...They are not set in stone, but my first notion was to see something soothing on the eyes...

The colors 'blinded' me so to speak, much in the same way that this text would be if I typed it all in this color and in bold...

That orange had the same effect to me...You can read it, but its not so pleasant...Tones an colors vary from monitor to monitor of course, which is why you would want to stick to basic colors that blend and read well on screen...

Hey there.

I just had a look around your site and dowloaded and read the first chapter (Dirty Boulevarde) which I thought was pretty entertaining so I'll keep reading the others. I like the way your son writes, he has his own original style, and a really good grip on the English language. He keeps the dialogue colourful without wasting words.

I have only two criticisms. Firstly I would prefer the main content of the home page have a broader overview of the of the site content, with more visuals, and a smaller area on the home page for things like curent affairs and suchlike. But I think it's good nevertheless, to post topics that cover recent events because then the viewer can see that your site is regularly maintained.
Secondly, and I don't wish to sound petty, but I noticed a few spelling mistakes and typos on a few of the pages, not so much in the stories, but on the site in general and that can be offputting at times.

Other than that, well done. I like the people page and being able to roll over the names of the characters to get their pics up. I was well entertained and I'll chuck it in my favourites so I can follow the stories.

Hi Guys

Thank you for your feedback, this is exactly what I wanted and your points are duly noted. The site is designed using CSS so changing colours and text styles and so on is easy to do. Obviously, we want people to read it and be comfortable when they're doing it so, that's something I'll attend to very soon. As far as spelling mistakes etc is concerned, I apologise for that, no excuses, it is sloppy and it is off-putting and, as you noticed, the story is free of such things......so doubly no excuse as I edit the stories and check for typos as well!!!!!
Anyway, as I said, this is the sort of feedback I wanted so thank you. Please keep reading and feeding back you thoughts and comments and, most of all, enjoy the story.

Best Regards

Goodog

P.S. The site was updated at the weekend with a new chapter and will continue to be updated regularily.
