Alright, if we are to share our gripes and moans, I'll give an open-ended example towards TT:

If I were to give the list of this roster below, what would you guess my overall record would be at this point, going into week 6?

QB Aaron Rodgers
WR Randy Moss
WR Anquan Boldin (acquired via trade last week; gave up Ochocinco)
RB Knowshon Moreno
RB Steven Jackson (acquired via trade last week; gave up Sproles)
TE Brent Celek
W/R Greg Jennings
K John Carney
DEF New York Jets

RESERVES
Jerrico Cotchery
Ben Roethlisberger
Mike Sims-Walker
LaDanian Tomlinson
Marshawn Lynch

I'd say 2-3 at best, but most likely 1-4. Most of those guys have not produced up to the pre-season expectations. Each has has at least one extremely bad game too. Plus LT, Moreno and Lynch missed games so you've been pretty weak at rb. And you could add Bolden too since he played week one on a bum leg only because the team was short healthy wr's and needed a body. And I'm pretty sure he ended the night w/ 0 catches for 0 pts.

Yeah IO, that lineup looks like one I had all last season, lol...

How about if I tell you my most potently-stacked roster this year has me at an underwhelming 0-4-1 record in that league. :disappoint:

It's a standard-scoring league, save for an incentives-bonus +2 point for RBs/WRs who go over 100 yards in a game, and +2 points to QBs who pass for over 300 yards in a game.

It's also weird that the last league I joined, the CBSSports one, and the one where I got absolutely whored in the draft, and is probably the most silently active league I'm in, I've gotten to an impressive 4-1 record just starting Carson Palmer, LT, Slaton, Dwayne Bowe, Sims-Walker, and the "new" Steve Smith" week in, week out. I'd say the New York Giants D/ST is carrying me in that league, but I didn't play them at all for the first three weeks.

Yeah, I remember last year's struggles for you vividly. It's probably one of the reasons why I avoided drafted Ryan Grant in all my leagues, because I saw how he performed for you, and thought, I'd best save myself the headaches.

trade advice, please

Can I get some trading advice? (again, even though my first query went unanswered)

This is mostly directed toward DL1, erokero, and TT, as you guys seem to be the most experienced in fantasy, and perhaps know how to swing a savvy trade. it's a bit long and in-detail, but I like to not leave any holes.

Alright, I've been trying like mad to get as many trades done in this one PPR league, highly-competitive and active, but all the owners are nightmares, and don't good value when it repeatedly slaps them in the face.
(league settings: 1 pt per catch, yet yards earned cut in half: RB/WR - 20 yards - 1 pt ; QB - 50 yards passing -1 pt ... all TDs - worth 6 pts
it's probably the worst setting ever, e.g. last year, Fitz scored 232 pts, Peterson scored 158, Turner - 189, I think)

First of all, I should tell you, I traded away Ray Rice early :( like, when McGahee was on 2 TD streak for 3 straight games. I got Jonathan Stewart in return.
Now, the real reason I've been trying to conduct as many trades as possible in this league is because all of my RBs are 2nd, 3rd-stringers at best. They are Leon Washington, Jonathan Stewart, and as of this week, now an added Maroney.

I traded away perhaps the top-producing PPR RB behind MJD in Ray Rice because I've not had much experience in trades. I just wanted to get a trade done, and I thought that the two backs were similar in value...
(as in, Ray Rice gets yards in a league where they don't matter as much + catches but little chance for TDs, while Stewart, I thought would become Car. goal-line vulture when healthy).
Fuck, and I got a steal when I drafted Rice in the 9th round, and then pawned him off just to think I made a deal.

Whatever, big mistake on my part. I'm still 4-2 with perhaps the weakest stable of RBs because nearly every one of my WRs would be no-brainer starts on anyone else's teams: Fitz, Andre Johnson, Steve Smith (north), Greg Jennings, Percy Harvin, Bernard Berrian ... (let go of Cotchery to pick up Kellen Winslow, and I hope to be able to trade him away if he produces another big game soon)

The last two Minn. receivers may get a back seat to Sidney Rice now, (by the way, where did he come from producing big the past 3 or so weeks?), but I just received notification tonight that one of my offers was accepted:
Harvin + Berrian for Calvin Johnson

So, now my team shapes up like this (sorry this has gone on so long, question at the end)

Rodgers (scored 250+ pts last season)
Fitzgerald (scored 232)
Johnson (scored 233)
Johnson (about 203-21, if I recall)
Jennings (198)
Steve Smith (has 89 pts this season)
dreg RBs (the backups in NYJ, Car., NE... their celing any given week, EVEN with a TD, is only 8-10 pts)
Cooley (53 pts this season)
Winslow (65 pts thus far)

Alright, now the moment of truth, which of my now 5 "automatic start" (read: stud) WRs should I try to trade in order to secure a top-10 back in return? As of Monday, I will now have the #1-3 top-scoring WRs from last year, the number #3 overall top-scorer with Rodgers (only behind Brees and Rivers), and the overall #15 scoring player with Jennings. If anything, I should try to swing a deal for a top-3 back, because in this league's scoring, pass-catchers and gunslingers are king, but... nobody else realizes this. I mean, I offered this one guy Jennings + Stewart for Frank Gore, and he told me to lick his shoes. What? Jennings, last year alone, scored 50 points more than Gore, and I'm trying to acquire a RB who has only played in two games this season. I don't know.

I'd love to keep Fitz and AJ, and wait and see how high I can sell with Calvin later on... but as of next week, I think either Steve Smith (dark blue) or Jennings will be on my block, and I need to know what RB you think I can get in retrun for either of them. They are both projected to have good, if not great games this week, so I'll probably be selling high with either of them, although they both have top-10 scoring potential in this particular league.
I would like to get either Ray Rice (back), Kevin Smith, Jones-Drew (he's over 100 pts already this season might be hard to pull off a trade unless I combo WRs), Ronnie Brown, Frank Gore (I think I burned that bridge with the owner), and maybe Steven Jackson (of all the trades I've made, people always offer him to me first... I didn't even draft him once this year, and now I have him on 3 or 4 of my 8 rosters... I think he can definitely get it going later in the year, barring injuries).

What do you think? I think those are the top backs, besides AD, whom I think is a near impossibility to get good value for, especially with this league's settings. Who else would be a good consideration I don't want Michael Turner, and I'm ambivalent about Chris Johnson. Honestly, I don't want anything to do with him, but it seems as though LenDale is pretty much a non-factor now, and the only thing that is holding back is the Titans' QB. Do you think he can be "bought low"?

This is the league: http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com ... ilted_time
(hopefully you can see it... I'm the 5th ranked team as of now)

sorry for the longest post ever made, but since this thread has been eerily quite for the past few weeks, I thought you guys might be eager to help a relative new guy like me. Thanks for any help and suggestions.

LOL @ Longest post ever made...IO, there used to be a guy here that was one of those guys perfectly suited for those kinds of questions...

I myself have not been able to figure fantasy out, but I'm getting OK at it...Obviously, if you have a team full of Drew Brees, Adrian Peterson, etc, its not that hard, but the insider info..? Forget it...

I'll PM that member, see if he can come back and give us some input here...But he was really good at this shit...

Since it's PPR, I would suggest trying to trade for Joseph Addai. He gets a lot of receptions and is a decent back for you. I would try to trade Jennings for him straight up.

If that doesn't work, Tim Hightower is a good receiving RB as well, but he's weak when it comes to running stats

I hope it works out for you
