Re: Fantasy Football 2009 [AF Elite]
I don't think you want my advice IO. You're the one that kept jumpin on me about Mark Clayton. It looks like your are STACKED at Wideout so it's kinda tought to part with that much talent for a marginal talent like Joseph Addai or something. I have Chris Johnson in my other league and he's been a decent producer but with the way the Titans are throwing away the season his attitude and production may drop so he's chancy. I kinda like the Stephen Jackson possibility. As bad as the Rams are he still seems to give his best effort all the time. I'm sorry dude I wish I could give you a more concrete answer but I suck at this stuff really, :(

Re: Fantasy Football 2009 [AF Elite]
No wonder he didn't net me any points (Leon Washington). It wasn't just a hard hit or big injury, but a certifiable 'break' :(
Seriously, though, while it I might mask my news update with fantasy ramifications, I am truly wishing him the best of good health in his recovery.
Jets’ Washington has broken leg, out indefinitely
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP)—New York Jets running back Leon Washington(notes) broke his right leg in the first quarter against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday and underwent surgery after the game.
Washington went down on his only carry of the day when a defender rolled up on his right leg after a 6-yard run. Teammates said the bone broke through the skin, and it was visible on the field. Washington was helped off the field by two trainers and then taken away on a cart.
He was diagnosed with a broken right fibula and underwent surgery immediately after the Jets’ 38-0 victory. The team said he would be out indefinitely.
“That’s unfortunate,” coach Rex Ryan said. “It’s obviously a severe injury, but hopefully he’ll be joining us sooner than later.”
Washington, who made the Pro Bowl last season as a kick returner, is also New York’s second-leading rusher with 330 yards on 71 carries. He also has 15 catches for 131 yards and takes direct snaps when the team runs out of the seminole formation.

Thanks to DeSean Jackson, I finally get a win this week! Watch out guys....I'm making a comeback! Haha...

Re: Fantasy Football 2009 [AF Elite]
Really?!
With only two offensive touches, one rush and one catch (and two punt returns), he took both offensive opportunities to the house and scored. He now has over 120 accumulated yards, and an extra 28 with returning duties.
Though... He's hurt now, got some X-rays during the game on his foot. Westbrook also was concussed. Man, the 'Skins may suck, and DeSean may be the "quickest" player in the league, but the 'Skins are totally knocking some heads back. What are the chances McNabb also gets injured in this game as well?

Re: Fantasy Football 2009 [AF Elite]
I finally gave in and did something to try and fix the sinking ship that is my team...
I traded Randy Moss and AP for Tony Romo, Jon Stewart and Steve Slaton...
While it may seem like a dumbass move.... now that Crabtree is playing, I have 3 semi-legit 5-10 pointers a week at WR.... we run a 2 QB league...and I had yet to get a single point from my other QB (after Brady Quinn sucked it up and Jemarcus Russel and Culpepper all decided to forget how to throw the ball)
And my other RB was so awful that he was pretty consistently getting 0 points.... and it worked out good for me thus far as Romo got more points this week than Moss and AP combined..
if only I had started Vernon fucking Davis this week (who netted 27 points) I would have won.

Hold on...you had Quinn, Russel, and Culpepper on your team and in addition you TRADED Moss and Peterson FOR Romo? I'm starting to see the flaw in your strategy.Drew wrote:I finally gave in and did something to try and fix the sinking ship that is my team...

Re: Fantasy Football 2009 [AF Elite]
Even if the league is stacked in Drew's two-QB league, meaning a maximum of 12 players in the league, I'd still think there are better options than what you have on your team.
All things considering, you prematurely bolted on your two best players in order to fill out what you perceived to be lacking. For one thing, after Romo's performance this past week, if I owned him, I'd be looking to sell as high as I could, because his end-of-season schedule is a gauntlet. And Romo has never been one to fair well in the clutch (playoffs), if you know what I mean.
I don't what it is about Stewart that lures owners like us. I traded for him after missing him in 6 drafts, and I gave up the now #3 fantasy back in Ray Rice. I'm a donk. They looked similar in value back in week 3, when McGahee was accumulating 2 TDs a game, and they were in a timeshare. And Stewart, i thought would be the goal-line back in Carolina, when healthy, and if so, his backup duties there would nearly mirror the carries that a "starter" would get elsewhere. I was sorely mistaken.
Slaton, he's hit or miss. He's morphed into what Reggie Bush was back in 2006, after being nearly the same kind of rusher Chris Johnson was last year.
To sum it up: In your trade Drew, if your partner got 100% value in giving away Romo, Slaton, and Stewart in return for what could be the #1 RB and WR at the end of the year, you only got back 20-25% of the value. You may think you can get those kinds of points back, but I don't think the breakout potential is there anymore. it depends on who else you happen to have on your team.
Also, I don't mean to bring it back to me, but just an hour ago, another trade I proposed was accepted. I received Ronnie Brown (I think this is the optimal buy-low period for him) and Chris Cooley, (more of an illusion trade to "fool" the other owner to accept; his season is most likely done after breaking his ankle on Monday Night) while I traded away Marques Colston and Heath Miller (on bye this week, but he's probably in the top-3 for TEs in pts; in fact, he could be in the top-10 for all pass-catchers with the way Ben is flinging the ball around).
In this league, fractional points scoring, 1 full point for every 5 receptions, and 1 point every 12 return yards.
Now, it may seem as though I gave up one of the most productive tight ends in Miller and Drew Brees' big #1 target in Colston, who always has the potential to break 20 pts a week for a surprising consistent RB in a full timeshare, which is Ronnie Brown. That is exactly what happened. I'll probably drop Cooley on Thursday to pick up someone else, but the reason I was able to complete this trade was bargaining for RB1 with a WR1 and TE1 that I have no need for, at all.
In fact, I think I hate Marques Colston. I've left him on my bench the two times he went for 20 pts, and it's all because in this league, all the WRs I own are certifiable A-Class "Studs".
I own the (Dark Blue) Steve Smith, Andre Johnson, Mike Sims-Walker, DeSean Jackson (I sat him this past week as well :( ), and Sidney Rice (picked him up last week, yet I still can't see a scenario where I play him yet... way too stacked).
I needed a RB desperately, as Leon Washington's "bone-piercing-skin, blood-spurting, season-ending" injury left an obvious hole in my RB slot.
Darren Sproles is my RB1 (and rightly so, as he has +135 pts in this season, more as a result of his +800 return yards so far and this league counting all of them).
Steven Jackson is my RB2. (that may seem unlikely, but yeah... also, this is the only league in which I drafted S.Jackson, yet I now own him in 4 leagues, and it may rise to 6 overall later in the week.)
And the reason I gave up Heath Miller was because I claimed a waiver on him just last week as someone foolishly dropped him. I thought immediately of dealing him when I got him. But... as my ineptitude proves, I actually played him, and BENCHED the #1-scoring TE in OWEN DANIELS. Man, I still am HORRIBLE at evaulating matchups.
Daniels all the way now.
Well, good luck to you, Drew. I don't have much experience in trading, but with how I'm fairing so far, (with the exception of J-Stew for Ray Rice), I'm happy with my trades thus far. If you think Romo can carry you, I hope his "2nd breakout" isn't just all hype after all.

I didn't draft all those QB's lol....I'd cut one, sign another, cut that one, sign another.
I never had even two of those QB's at the same time on my roster. Give me SOME credit lol

Summary of all the points below: I suck at picking matchups
Well, just to update, here are my standings as of the conclusion of week 9:
Yahoo! leagues
rank 9/12 : 3-6 record : 4th in points w/ 880.46 - the "return yardage, .2 PPR, passing TDs worth 5 pts, no kickers, fractional scoring league". To start off the theme, in this league, I am stacked at receivers, and very thin at RB. Sproles is my bedrock option (especially since every 12 return yards count as a point, and he has over 800 of them now). All the familiar names are here: (the good yet undrafted) Steve Smith, Mike Sims-Walker, Steven Jackson, Andre Johnson, Owen Daniels (may you rest in peace) and Philip Rivers. The maddening elite receivers that I never start are DeSean, Colston, and Sidney Rice. I also was able to pick up Favre off waivers, but I didn't play him v. Packers (rematch). It's a theme, as you will see.
rank 8/12 : 3-6 record : 2nd in points w/ 972.38 (I'd be first in points with the same record had I started Warner instead of Schaub last week... or, if I had started Schaub instead of Warner in weeks 2-6 consistently, especially weeks 2 AND 6). Fitzgerald and (Eli's)Steve Smith are my usual two options at WR, and a healthy Frank Gore and an incrediblly-studly value in Ray Rice are my only two RB. I have alot of scrub receivers with "upside" in this league, but the main reason I score so much is because of my QBs, Fitz, and my rotating DEF that I pick up each week.
rank 8/10 : 3-5-1 record : 4th in points w/ 840 ...it's amazing that I actually have a better record in this league than the two above, since in this league, I was winless until week 7 (lost 5 straight to open up, then a tie in week 6).
rank 6/10 : 5-4 record : 6th in points w/ 770 - I can't tell you how much I hate this league...so F-in much. All the owners are pricks, and they don't know value. I'm dumbfounded that I have the #1 FF scorer with Rodgers, and stud receivers Fitzgerald, A. Johnson, Calvin Johnson, (Dark Blue) Steve Smith, and Greg Jennings, all in a PPR league, and I'm still struggling. my one mistake here is that traded away my only consistent RB before week 3-4 in Ray Rice, who is now the NUMBER 2 FF scorer in our league. This blows.
ESPN leagues
the AYHJA forum league.
rank 3/8 : 5-4 record : 3rd in points (Kumicho is #1, DL1 is #2) Honestly, I'm so disappointed with myself. I lost twice because I may have had too much faith in Warner, and not enough faith in Palmer, when he beat down the Bears to the tune of 39 pts... and recently, when newly-acquired waiver agent Favre (why are people droppping this guy?! He's second in pts overall) punched the Packers in the mouth, while also gaining 35 pts in the game. At least Warner (who blazed the Bears for 40 points this past weekend) finally got it done when he was supposed to.
Also, it's weird that the two new guys are the ones with the best record in this league, and the one of two people who were actually present for the live draft only has 1 win to date. (TT)
rank 3/10 : 6-3 record : 1st in pts with 922 (wow, that's my highest! and this is a standard-scoring league as well) this was a last-minute autodraft league I joined. I lucked out here as the computer drafted for me great RBs (MJD, Ray Rice, and sometimes, Grant), which I don't in any other league. Having Peyton and Rivers helps as well. Oh, and picked up Westbrook (might not be beagging in three weeks, tho) off waivers just last week.
rank 2/10 : 6-3 record : 1st in points w/ 837 (#2 is not even close) this is the other league where I had 5-7 really good receivers, and most of them came off waivers. Fitz, Roddy, and Ochocinco were the ones I drafted, then I picked up (Eli's)Steve Smith, Hines Ward, and Wes Welker, and then traded Ocho /Rashard to get Jennings / Steven Jackson.
Boldin and Miles Austin were in free agency in this league up until 2 weeks ago, too.
CBSSports league
rank tied for 2nd of 12 (w/ two "computer" teams) : 6-3 record : 3rd in points w/ 869 - again, amazing. Truly amazing. I missed on my first two draft picks with LT and Slaton, but with no flex in this league, starting 3 WRs each week, I lucked out again on waivers. Got my fav Steve Smith, and new #1 star in Sims-Walker, along with drafting Vincent Jackson and Dwayne Bowe, and starting Palmer every week (no backup). My one boneheaded stubborn mistake is that I was having trade exchanges with this one team about three weeks ago, and he eventually offered Sidney Rice, Garrard (Palmer on bye, w/ a week 8 rematch v. Titans) and DeAngelo Williams. All I had to give up was Fred Jackson, MSW, and Slaton, but I couldn't pull the trigger. God, such a regret now looking back. (D-Will hadn't broken out yet, and Slaton was channeling good Reggie Bush for 3 straight weeks). *shakes head*
