i'm curious as to what AF's hip hop community list as their faves of the last 10 years.
a bud posed this question to me last night & it wasnt as easy to answer as i thought due to the fact that it just misses the mark on what many consider to be hip hop's golden decade [86-96].
so here's the criteria:
*albums that have held up over time
*albums that you can put in your player & just let go from beginning to finish
*no soundtracks,best of compilations etc
pretty simple? for me it wasn't. such a glut of bad or substandard product out there IMHO.
without further ado,i ask for members' Top 5 or Top 10. here are mine in no particular order
The Roots - Game Theory/Phrenology [Tie]
Common - Be
Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele
Nas - God's Son
Q-Tip - Kamaal The Abstract
50 Cent - Get Rich Or Die Tryin'
Outkast - Aquemini/SpeakerboxxxThe Love Below [Tie]
Dr Dre - Chronic 2001
Rahzel - Make The Music 2000
Jay-Z - Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life/The Blueprint [Tie]
gotta give a shout out to Wu-Tang's Iron Flag,The Roots' Things Fall Apart,Common's Like Water For Chocolate, Mos Def's Black On Both Sides & Big Pun's Capital Punishment who just got edged outta my list.

Shit, in the last 10 years, other than any Outkast album that has come out, I don't think I have a CD like that...Damn shame, but I do believe its true...We've been going through a funky period in music man, we have all kinds of shit mixed in with the good stuff...Very rarely do we see an album w/great beats and rhymes...
Shit man, we gotta throw some more names out...Even going through my collection on my external I can't find an album (other than The Love Below) that I can just put on at any time and listen to all the way through...
OK, can't forget about Jigga, the Blueprint and The Black Album bang the fuck out...

Umm, you mention Cam'ron making the list in anything except a joking way and you loose cred, lol...
The Black album was hot Mang..! It was chok full of bangers..! Definitely one of his best albums...
I've always been a fan of Quik, you're right, I could ride them joints all the way through...Redman is my dude also, I have ALL of his albums up here, so I can't front on the love there...
Snoop's 'Topp Dogg' I liked alot...I used to buy every No Limit CD that came out until they fired Beats by the Pound...
