The Olympic Torch route has now become just one long protest about Tibet.
Unless China smartens up and stops trying to crush the Tibet people,
this poster may well become the image of these Olympic games.
My observations:
1. Tibet holds the headwaters of the rivers that feed over 25% of the world's population.
If political and diplomatic action does not solve the China - Tibet problem,
it will devolve into a hot war .
2. China is a culture based on face-saving and shame (the West is motivated similarly by guilt and greed), so the boycotting of the opening ceremonies by international heads of state would have a greater effect than a total boycott of by athletes.
Should other countries boycott to show solidarity with Tibet?
What about Chinese complicity in the Darfur genocide?
George Bush, of course, has said:
"Hey, no problaymo, I'm goin' to the Limbo Games! Got me front seat tickets.
The Dengster's gonna let me throw out the first javelin thingy! Heh, heh, heh."
